INSTRUCTIONS OF JEWELLERY CARE

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR PRECIOUS JEWELS AND ORNAMENTS ?

Taking good care of your ornaments and jewels is very easy. All it takes is a little time, whether it is Gold, Silver, Diamond or Pearl. All jewels need to be properly taken care of as follows

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

WEARING

Before wearing any jewelry, check if they are in perfect condition, without any damages or scratches.

Always wear jewelry after you have applied make-up, because chemicals in perfumes or talc may damage your precious jewelry.

Jewelry should not be worn while doing any hard chores, especially if they are stone studded. They get scratched easily and may eventually loose their original shine.
Jewels should not come in contact with water for a prolonged period, because they may get tarnished soon. Remove them before washing or bathing.

STORING

Always separate and store all your jewels in fabric-lined compartmentalised jewel boxes.
Before storing any jewel after use, wipe them clean of sweat or grease and then store.
Do not subject your jewels to extreme temperature conditions.
Keep all jewels in a safe, cool and dry place.
Store jewels away from any household chemicals, because they may get discoloured or damaged.
Do not keep jewels on sinks or bathrooms, especially the small ones, for they may slip into the drain easily.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

GOLD

Before storing gold jewels, always check again if they are in good condition. If there are any dents, loose parts, chipped stones or any major damage, bring them immediately to us for a check or repair.

SILVER

Silver gets oxidised over a period, and develops a layer of thin dark film as a coating. If maintained properly however, silver jewels and silver ware, improve with age and develop a lush patina on their surface.
Silver vessels like plates, glasses, knives or other ritual pujaware used on a daily basis, should be cleaned and taken care of regularly.
Silver jewelry should be stored in a tarnish preventive plastic air-tight bag.

DIAMOND

Diamond is the hardest substance known to man.
Bridal jewelry sets in diamond, should always be worn with much care, keeping in mind the crowd and the occasion, for they may easily get misplaced or even lost.
Diamond jewelry have to be individually wrapped in tissue paper and stored. Though diamonds are hard, they tend to chip off, or cause scratches when they come in contact with each other or other stones and jewels.
Before storing diamond jewelry, check on all sides for any loose stones. If there are any loose prongs or chipped stones, bring them immediately to us for a check or repair.

PEARLS

Good quality pearls have round smooth surface, and a soft shine.
Pearls are very soft by nature, and get easily damaged on contact with chemicals.
Do not wear loosely strung pearls, for they may break while wearing.
Do not wear pearl necklaces which have been used for a long time without checking if they need re-stringing.
Keep pearl jewels wrapped in a tissue, inside a cloth bag and store in a separate jewel box.
Have your pearls re-strung once a year, to maintain its strength and durability.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR JEWELS ?

All jewels can be easily washed and maintained at home, by a simple cleaning procedure.

WARM DETERGENT WASH

First, take a shallow bowl and mix a little household detergent in warm water.
Place your jewels in the bath for a few seconds, and gently brush with a soft old toothbrush.
Then transfer them carefully to a wire tea strainer or a sieve and rinse under running water.
Pat dry with a soft cotton cloth immediately.
Your jewels will glitter like new now.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

While cleaning any jewel in the detergent water bath, avoid harsh fibres, household scrub, coarse powder, liquid or chemical cleansers. Use only a mild household detergent.
To remove accumulated grease and oil from everyday use silver vessels, you must wash them in a detergent bath on a regular basis.
For cleaning pearls, use only a mild detergent solution, highly diluted. Quickly clean, and rinse in running water immediately.
Wipe the pearls with soft tissue after cleaning.
